Central government jobs in Kerala 2026 - the institutions that recruit

Kerala hosts an unusually dense cluster of central government establishments for its size. Thiruvananthapuram has three ISRO centres (VSSC, LPSC and IISU), IISER, the Regional Cancer Centre (partly central-funded), the Kerala Postal Circle office, the RBI regional office, Central Tuber Crops Research Institute and the Rubber Research Institute's neighbour, the Rubber Board at Kottayam. Kochi has Cochin Shipyard, Cochin Port Authority, Southern Naval Command civilian establishments, FACT, BPCL Kochi Refinery, CIFT, CMFRI, the Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical Training, Customs and GST commissionerates. Kozhikode has NIT Calicut and IIM Kozhikode; Palakkad has IIT Palakkad and Southern Railway's division; Kasaragod has the Central University of Kerala and CPCRI. Why Kerala candidates should look at central jobs first

Three reasons. Central posts pay on the 7th CPC scale, which is higher than the corresponding Kerala state scale for most Group B and C posts. Most central recruitment does not require Malayalam, so competition is national rather than local - but Kerala candidates, with strong English and technical education, historically do well in these exams. And central rank lists and appointments move faster than Kerala PSC lists: a Cochin Shipyard workman post or a VSSC technician post is filled within a few months of the notification.

SSC CHSL fills Lower Division Clerk and Data Entry Operator posts in central offices in Kerala; SSC MTS and Havaldar need only SSLC; SSC GD Constable recruits for CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB with Plus Two. India Post Kerala Circle runs the Gramin Dak Sevak drive (SSLC, Malayalam required, merit by marks) and postman/MTS recruitment. Cochin Shipyard, VSSC, Southern Railway, FACT and Naval Dockyard take ITI trade apprentices. For graduates, engineers and professionals

SSC CGL (inspector, assistant, auditor posts in Income Tax, GST, CAG and ministries), UPSC Civil Services and Engineering Services, RBI and NABARD, and the Kerala postings of Intelligence Bureau, EPFO and ESIC are the main graduate routes.
